We hired VKB to remodel our kitchen. They ordered the wrong pantry cabinet not once, but twice, delaying our project by several weeks. The electrician that they subcontracted our job to blew one phase of the power to our house (then tried to charge us extra to fix it) while trying to upgrade our service, tore out new construction to wire outlets that he should had done weeks ago and left live wires exposed for weeks in our house. We are lucky no one was injured or worse. When I complained to VKB to have the electrician taken off the job I was ignored for weeks.
During the entire process my husband and I were very hands on, which we had to be because VKB has terrible communication. They would tell me one thing only to do another. The only way I had any of my concerns addressed was to physically go to their showroom and complain, which I had to do several weekends in a row. I believe my concerns were largely ignored because I am a woman (and a licensed architect) and were only taken seriously when my husband accompanied me (my husband does not work in the construction industry.)
Despite being the one that constantly reached out to VKB (Through phone calls, text messages, and their client portal), they began to only contact my husband. By the end of the project, my husband and I did not feel comfortable having VKB unsupervised in our house.
